Investor Profile: Michael Voice (BSC 2007), Sunridge Partners
I was born in Michigan and matriculated at The University of Michigan completing a degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering in 2007. My first full time role was in natural gas trading where I focused on structured deals and physical trading. In 2010, I moved to London and completed a master’s degree at Cass Business School. Following my time in business school, I was an investment professional at RJI Capital, a boutique private equity and strategic advisory firm, covering both direct investments and advisory mandates.
I joined the agriculture sector with an interest in how to fund and develop large scale, transformative projects that could drive product quality, superior operating/ financial metrics, and sustainability. I was a key early member of the Sundrop Farms team as we rapidly scaled the business first in Australia, and later in Europe and North America.
In 2017 I co-founded Sunridge Partners with colleagues from Sundrop Farms. At Sunridge, we focus on providing growth equity (typically $10 - $40m+), often to founder led businesses. The genesis of Sunridge came out of our experience at Sundrop Farms and historical investments made within agriculture by the family office behind Sundrop Farms. Fundamentally, we approach investments as owner/ operators and take a hands-on role.
I see many incredibly successful businesses within the broader food and agribusiness space where we can create true win-win partnership. Sunridge provides financial, strategic, and other support -- to scale, to acquire, to professionalize, and to invest in technologies for the future. I truly enjoy the everyday operational challenges my role brings, the excitement of exploring new subsectors for interesting investment opportunities, and sense of accomplishment supporting business development at our portfolio companies.
